Today, the 8th of March is THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY. So this morning, when you checked your newsfeed and Instagram you most definitely came across posts about the International Women’s Day. If you haven’t heard about, well Good Morning then!
But what's the International Women’s Day about?
Generally, the IWD is to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. The earliest event to honor women, named „National Woman’s Day was held on February 28, 1909, in New York. Its original idea was to commemorate the movement for women’s rights.
Celebrate It's a celebration! Be happy and celebrate what you have achieved in life.
It's a Holiday! In many countries worldwide, the International Women’s Day is a public holiday.
Different themes Every year the United Nations call out official themes for the IWD
Make a change! 2018’s theme is: „Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives“, last year it was: „Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030“
(6.) One for the boys! There is an International Men’s Day too. Its celebrated on the 19th of November.
